In July 2020 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th c. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included the work Hologram (IV 01) by James Turrell. The auction ended at the price of USD 50,000.00 (€ 42,466.45), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by James Turrell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Orca, Blue-Red in October 2020 with an auction result of GBP 302,400.00 (€ 335,789.40).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Juli 2020 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th c. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hologram (IV 01) von James Turrell zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 42.466,45) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Turrell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Orca, Blue-Red im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 302.400,00 (€ 335.789,40).
