Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hardware Store Collage - Bauhaus Bathroom Sinks #1 by Haegue Yang was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,533.50). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Haegue Yang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Central Composition in Explosion – Trustworthy ‘For Sophie Taeuber’ #184 in July 2020 with an auction result of HKD 812,500.00 (€ 89,020.30).
