Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La Moisson by Gustave de Smet was sold in the Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in February 2016. The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 22,424.09) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave de Smet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les Amants in March 2019 with an auction result of EUR 588,500.00.

Die Arbeit La Moisson von Gustave de Smet wurde im Februar 2016 in der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 22.424,09) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave de Smet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Les Amants im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 588.500,00.
