Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Belgian ducks On The Lys by Gustave de Smet was sold in the 20th Century Art – A Different Perspective auction at Sothebys in London in November 2017. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,094.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave de Smet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les Amants in March 2019 with an auction result of EUR 588,500.00.
