In November 2001 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction CALIFORNIA, WESTERN AND AMERICAN PAINTINGS, which included the work Sunlit Birches by Gunnar Widforss. The »bidding war« ended at USD 14,100.00 (€ 15,740.12), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Gunnar Widforss have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Grand Canyon in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 121,500.00 (€ 143,177.00).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Im November 2001 führte Christies in Los Angeles die Auktion CALIFORNIA, WESTERN AND AMERICAN PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunlit Birches von Gunnar Widforss zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 14.100,00 (€ 15.740,12) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gunnar Widforss auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Grand Canyon im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 121.500,00 (€ 143.177,00).
