This artwork by Giorgio Morandi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May last year. In the Impressionist and Modern Works on Paper and Day Sale auction, the work Natura morta sold for USD 1,058,400.00 (€ 986,301.37) - well above the upper estimate of USD 600,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giorgio Morandi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Natura morta, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 4,332,500.00 (€ 3,712,510.71).
