A top price for Giorgio Morandi
The work Natura morta by Giorgio Morandi was sold in the The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller: 19th and 20th Century Art, Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2018. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,332,500.00 (€ 3,712,510.71), 44% above the upper estimate. With this result, Natura morta is even the most expensive work of art by Giorgio Morandi that we have observed at auctions so far.
