Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Le Flamenco by Georges Barbier was worth GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,478.48) to a buyer in April 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Impressionist & Modern Art | London Including Works from the Collection of Marina Picasso at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 800.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georges Barbier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ida Rubinstein and Vaslav Nijinsky in Scheherazade in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 107,100.00 (€ 119,640.25).
