Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Georges Barbier achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2020. In the Russian Pictures auction, the work Two Nymphs in L'Après-midi d'un faune sold for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 5,630.13) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georges Barbier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ida Rubinstein and Vaslav Nijinsky in Scheherazade in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 107,100.00 (€ 119,640.25).
