Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Nakashima could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in July 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the CONTEMPORARY LIVING – Photographs, Prints & Design auction, the work Headboard changed hands for USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,667.39) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Nakashima achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Exceptional free-form “Minguren I” coffee table in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 86,500.00 (€ 69,932.90).
