The work Single-armed rocking chair by George Nakashima was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in May 2019. It achieved a price of HKD 75,000.00 (€ 8,583.73), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 50%. Admittedly, works by George Nakashima have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Exceptional free-form “Minguren I” coffee table in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 86,500.00 (€ 69,932.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Single-armed rocking chair von George Nakashima kam im Mai 2019 bei Phillips in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 75.000,00 (€ 8.583,73) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 50%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Nakashima auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Exceptional free-form “Minguren I” coffee table im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 86.500,00 (€ 69.932,90).
