This artwork by George Nakashima achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in Hong Kong in June 2021. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction auction, the work Set of six 'Grass-Seated' chairs sold for HKD 252,000.00 (€ 27,373.73) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 90,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Nakashima - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Exceptional free-form “Minguren I” coffee table, which sold at auction in May 2010 for USD 86,500.00 (€ 69,932.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von George Nakashima erzielte im Juni 2021 bei Phillips in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction wurde die Arbeit Set of six 'Grass-Seated' chairs für HKD 252.000,00 (€ 27.373,73) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 90.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Nakashima mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Exceptional free-form “Minguren I” coffee table beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für USD 86.500,00 (€ 69.932,90) versteigert wurde.
