Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Set of four early grass-seated chairs by George Nakashima was worth GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,201.49) to a buyer in April 2018. This price was achieved in the auction Important Design at Phillips in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Nakashima - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Exceptional free-form “Minguren I” coffee table, which sold at auction in May 2010 for USD 86,500.00 (€ 69,932.90).

Die Arbeit Set of four early grass-seated chairs von George Nakashima war einem Käufer im April 2018 GBP 21.250,00 (€ 24.201,49) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Important Design bei Phillips in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von George Nakashima mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Exceptional free-form “Minguren I” coffee table beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für USD 86.500,00 (€ 69.932,90) versteigert wurde.
