Despite a disappointment, a good price for George Barnard
When the work Selected Images by George Barnard was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,438.87). Despite this disappointing result, Selected Images is the most expensive artwork by George Barnard that we have observed at auction so far.
Trotz Enttäuschung ein guter Preis für George Barnard
Als die Arbeit Selected Images von George Barnard im Oktober 2017 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.438,87) den Besitzer. Trotz dieses enttäuschenden Ergebnisses ist Selected Images das teuerste Kunstwerk von George Barnard, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
