Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Buen-Ventura - Savanah - Circa 1866 by George Barnard was auctioned at Artcurial in Paris in October last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 394.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Barnard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Selected Images in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,438.87).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Buen-Ventura - Savanah - Circa 1866 von George Barnard im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Artcurial in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 394,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Barnard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Selected Images im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.438,87).
