Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A peaceful day on the river by Gari Melchers was sold in the British, Continental & Russian Pictures auction at Christies in London in April 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,200.00 (€ 6,149.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gari Melchers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nellie Kabel in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 221,000.00 (€ 162,023.46).

Die Arbeit A peaceful day on the river von Gari Melchers wurde im April 2007 in der Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.200,00 (€ 6.149,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gari Melchers erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nellie Kabel im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 221.000,00 (€ 162.023,46).
