Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Gari Melchers could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important American Paintings, Drawings And Sculpture auction, the work Young Mother changed hands for USD 97,000.00 (€ 62,339.33) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gari Melchers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nellie Kabel, which sold at auction in May 2014 for USD 221,000.00 (€ 162,023.46).
