In March 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work The Little Green House by Gari Melchers. The »bidding war« ended at USD 22,500.00 (€ 18,262.99), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Gari Melchers have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nellie Kabel in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 221,000.00 (€ 162,023.46).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im März 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Little Green House von Gari Melchers zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 18.262,99) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gari Melchers auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nellie Kabel im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 221.000,00 (€ 162.023,46).
