In November 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Mother and Child by Gari Melchers. The »bidding war« ended at USD 181,000.00 (€ 123,229.85), 51% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gari Melchers; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Nellie Kabel sold at auction in May 2014 with the realized price of USD 221,000.00 (€ 162,023.46).

Im November 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mother and Child von Gari Melchers zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 181.000,00 (€ 123.229,85) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Gari Melchers; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Nellie Kabel im Mai 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 221.000,00 (€ 162.023,46).
