This artwork by Fred Holland Day achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February 2016. In the Modern Visions: Exceptional Photographs auction, the work Untitled (Maynard White/Sailor on Rock, Torso), c. 1910 sold for USD 42,500.00 (€ 39,105.63) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Fred Holland Day have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work St. Sebastian in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 212,500.00 (€ 195,043.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Fred Holland Day erzielte im Februar 2016 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern Visions: Exceptional Photographs wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Maynard White/Sailor on Rock, Torso), c. 1910 für USD 42.500,00 (€ 39.105,63) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fred Holland Day auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit St. Sebastian im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 212.500,00 (€ 195.043,60).
