This artwork by Fred Holland Day achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2017. In the Visionaries: Photographs from the Emily and Jerry Spiegel Collection auction, the work The Last Chord and Then No More, 1907 sold for USD 125,000.00 (€ 107,314.56) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Fred Holland Day; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot St. Sebastian sold at auction in April 2017 with the realized price of USD 212,500.00 (€ 195,043.60).
