A top price for Fred Holland Day - as previously expected
The work St. Sebastian by Fred Holland Day was sold in the Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 212,500.00 (€ 195,043.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, St. Sebastian is the most expensive artwork by Fred Holland Day that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Die Arbeit St. Sebastian von Fred Holland Day wurde im April 2017 in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 212.500,00 (€ 195.043,60) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist St. Sebastian das teuerste Kunstwerk von Fred Holland Day, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
