In October 2011 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Young Man in Sailor Suit, c. 1915 by Fred Holland Day. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,125.00 (€ 5,825.63), 63% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fred Holland Day achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St. Sebastian in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 212,500.00 (€ 195,043.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Young Man in Sailor Suit, c. 1915 von Fred Holland Day zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 5.825,63) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fred Holland Day erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St. Sebastian im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 212.500,00 (€ 195.043,60).
