Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Differential pumice deposits in Clearwater Creed Valley, grapes growing through pumice, 9.5 miles NE of Mt. St. Helens, Wash., 1981; Midway Area from Kasota Ave.- Minneapolis, Minn., 1977; and Roadside park- Oak Hill, Texas by Frank Gohlke was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in New York in April 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,500.00 (€ 3,397.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frank Gohlke - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Selected Images, which sold at auction in April 2010 for USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,397.08).
