This price was achieved in the auction Photographs Including Crossing America: Photographs from The Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part II at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 2,500.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Frank Gohlke; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Selected Images sold at auction in April 2010 with the realized price of USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,397.08).
