Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ocean II (The Gale) (L. 27) by Fairfield Porter was sold in the Editions & Works on Paper auction at Phillips in New York in April this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,286.00 (€ 2,070.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fairfield Porter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Schooner II in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,932,500.00 (€ 1,655,955.44).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Ocean II (The Gale) (L. 27) von Fairfield Porter wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.286,00 (€ 2.070,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fairfield Porter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Schooner II im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.932.500,00 (€ 1.655.955,44).
