Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2018 Christies in New York held the auction The Collection of Melva Bucksbaum: Post-War and Contemporary Art, Photographs and Prints, which included the work Ghastly Charmer by Ellen Berkenbilt. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,169.96), 16% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ellen Berkenbilt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nite Vibe in June this year with an auction result of GBP 40,640.00 (€ 47,297.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Collection of Melva Bucksbaum: Post-War and Contemporary Art, Photographs and Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ghastly Charmer von Ellen Berkenbilt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.169,96) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ellen Berkenbilt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nite Vibe im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.640,00 (€ 47.297,96).
