In September 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Black Maternity by Elizabeth Catlett. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,012.50 (€ 6,057.27), 40% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Elizabeth Catlett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Woman Fixing Her Hair in April 2014 with an auction result of USD 149,000.00 (€ 107,426.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im September 2021 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Black Maternity von Elizabeth Catlett zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.012,50 (€ 6.057,27) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Elizabeth Catlett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Woman Fixing Her Hair im April 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 149.000,00 (€ 107.426,10).
