Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2020 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art: Amsterdam, which included the work For $188.00 by Edward Kienholz. The price achieved of EUR 4,375.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Kienholz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Future as an Afterthought in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 141,900.00 (€ 120,601.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2020 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art: Amsterdam durch, in der auch die Arbeit For $188.00 von Edward Kienholz zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 4.375,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Kienholz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Future as an Afterthought im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 141.900,00 (€ 120.601,73).
