In October last year Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Motion Study, Horse and Rider by Eadweard Muybridge. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,190.00 (€ 8,244.41), 64% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eadweard Muybridge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Selected plates from Animal Locomotion, 1871-1885 in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 114,000.00 (€ 83,455.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Motion Study, Horse and Rider von Eadweard Muybridge zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 8.244,41) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eadweard Muybridge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Selected plates from Animal Locomotion, 1871-1885 im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 114.000,00 (€ 83.455,34).
