Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Eadweard Muybridge could be acquired at Phillips in New York in October 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Photographs auction, the work Selected Images from Animal Locomotion: An Electro-Photographic Investigation of Consecutive Phases of Animal Movements changed hands for USD 8,820.00 (€ 7,635.04) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eadweard Muybridge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Selected plates from Animal Locomotion, 1871-1885 in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 114,000.00 (€ 83,455.34).
