Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by De Wain Valentine could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Curated auction, this work without title changed hands for USD 18,750.00 (€ 17,456.48) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by De Wain Valentine have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Concave Crystal, 1986 in February this year with an auction result of USD 101,175.00 (€ 95,430.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von De Wain Valentine konnte im März 2015 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Curated wechselte diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 18.750,00 (€ 17.456,48) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von De Wain Valentine auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Concave Crystal, 1986 im Februar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 101.175,00 (€ 95.430,11).
