This artwork by Derek Jarman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2004. In the 20th Century British Art auction, the work Cool Water Series sold for GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,973.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Derek Jarman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sightless in October 2001 with an auction result of GBP 18,800.00 (€ 30,383.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Derek Jarman erzielte im Juli 2004 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century British Art wurde die Arbeit Cool Water Series für GBP 2.629,00 (€ 3.973,00) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Derek Jarman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sightless im Oktober 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.800,00 (€ 30.383,54).
