Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2012 Christies in London held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work We Never Sleep by David Thorpe. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,402.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Thorpe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Do What You Have To Do, which sold at auction in October 2011 for GBP 34,850.00 (€ 40,332.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit We Never Sleep von David Thorpe zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 19.402,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von David Thorpe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Do What You Have To Do beobachtet, die im Oktober 2011 für GBP 34.850,00 (€ 40.332,25) versteigert wurde.
