Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Exiled Flower Is Great Libertie by David Thorpe was auctioned at Sothebys in London in August 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,044.54). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Thorpe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Do What You Have To Do in October 2011 with an auction result of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 40,332.25).
