Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Obama Shrine - 16th Century - Obama Japan, from Artists for Obama II by David Hammons was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,512.00 (€ 1,522.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hammons achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 8,005,000.00 (€ 5,883,433.78).
