Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2008 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian the Bathe by David Boyd. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 9,000.00 (€ 5,253.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by David Boyd have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Monoliths, 1962 in May last year with an auction result of AUD 51,045.00 (€ 47,567.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2008 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian the Bathe von David Boyd zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 9.000,00 (€ 5.253,73) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Boyd auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Monoliths, 1962 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 51.045,00 (€ 47.567,79).
