Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2008 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian nude Weeping Near A Golden Wattle Tree by David Boyd. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 26,400.00 (€ 15,410.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Boyd - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Monoliths, 1962, which sold at auction in May last year for AUD 51,045.00 (€ 47,567.79).
