Auction result well in line with expectations
The work untitled (for Ad Reinhardt) 1b by Dan Flavin was auctioned at Phillips in New York in May this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 152,400.00 (€ 143,044.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dan Flavin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alternate Diagonals Of March 2, 1964 (To Don Judd) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,077,000.00 (€ 2,255,865.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit untitled (for Ad Reinhardt) 1b von Dan Flavin kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 152.400,00 (€ 143.044,87) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dan Flavin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Alternate Diagonals Of March 2, 1964 (To Don Judd) im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.077.000,00 (€ 2.255.865,10).
