Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2018 Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work A Vision of Dead Desire by Clarence John Laughlin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,088.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Clarence John Laughlin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'The Final Act (Belle Grove Plantation)', which sold at auction in October 2016 for USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,262.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Vision of Dead Desire von Clarence John Laughlin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.500,00 (€ 3.088,60) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Clarence John Laughlin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'The Final Act (Belle Grove Plantation)' beobachtet, die im Oktober 2016 für USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.262,73) versteigert wurde.
