In November this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included the work Untitled 80-4-8 by Chung Sang-Hwa. The »bidding war« ended at USD 190,500.00 (€ 174,642.46), 59% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Chung Sang-Hwa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled 97-3-26 in October 2016 with an auction result of HKD 6,440,000.00 (€ 757,854.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 59 % übertroffen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled 80-4-8 von Chung Sang-Hwa zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 190.500,00 (€ 174.642,46) und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chung Sang-Hwa auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled 97-3-26 im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 6.440.000,00 (€ 757.854,41).
