In September 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Asia: Including a Collection of Works by Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, which included the work Aggregation 97-106 by Kwang Young Chun. The »bidding war« ended at USD 27,500.00 (€ 25,217.79), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Kwang Young Chun have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Aggregation 07-De245 in November 2013 with an auction result of HKD 1,360,000.00 (€ 128,943.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im September 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Asia: Including a Collection of Works by Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita durch, in der auch die Arbeit Aggregation 97-106 von Kwang Young Chun zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 25.217,79) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kwang Young Chun auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Aggregation 07-De245 im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.360.000,00 (€ 128.943,11).
