Auction result well in line with expectations

In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included the work Untitled (From The White Series) by Christian Marclay. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 60,480.00 (€ 51,927.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Christian Marclay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Boneyard in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 550,000.00 (€ 493,938.03).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (From The White Series) von Christian Marclay zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 60.480,00 (€ 51.927,53) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christian Marclay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Boneyard im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 550.000,00 (€ 493.938,03).
