Despite a disappointment, a good price for Chris Verene
In October 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work Galesburg #35 (Josh and His Girlfriend); Galesburg #2 (My Cousin Candi's Wedding with Her Two Favorite Customers from Her Job at the Sirloin Stockade); and Untitled (Girl in a Cornfield) by Chris Verene for USD 2,390.00 (€ 2,418.78). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Galesburg #35 (Josh and His Girlfriend); Galesburg #2 (My Cousin Candi's Wedding with Her Two Favorite Customers from Her Job at the Sirloin Stockade); and Untitled (Girl in a Cornfield) is the most expensive artwork by Chris Verene that we have observed at auction so far.
