This artwork by Chris Martin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February 2019. In the Post-War to Present auction, the work Red + Green Sex Machine sold for USD 30,000.00 (€ 26,364.36) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chris Martin; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Staring into the Sun sold at auction in December 2017 with the realized price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 31,192.81).
