Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Divine Gas by Chiho Aoshima was auctioned at Christies in New York in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 4,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 2,520.00 (€ 304.75). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chiho Aoshima achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work City Glow in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 48,508.37).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Divine Gas von Chiho Aoshima im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 4.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 2.520,00 (€ 304,75) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chiho Aoshima erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit City Glow im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 48.508,37).
