Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hand Holding Egg by Charles Ray was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Afternoon Session auction at Christies in New York in May 2014. The price achieved of USD 371,000.00 (€ 271,994.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Aluminum Girl in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 4,282,500.00 (€ 3,463,684.89).
