The work Envy by Barry X Ball was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session auction at Christies in New York in November 2019. The »bidding war« ended at USD 471,000.00 (€ 427,443.51), 57% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Barry X Ball; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Sleeping Hermaphrodite sold at auction in May 2016 with the realized price of USD 545,000.00 (€ 489,447.69).
