Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Untitled Etching 2 by Barnett Newman. Here, the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 87,500.00 (€ 77,909.36). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barnett Newman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Fire I in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 84,165,000.00 (€ 61,704,545.45).
