This artwork by Barbara Hepworth achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in August this year. In the Prints & MultiplesSummer Splash auction, the work Squares and Circles sold for USD 3,520.00 (€ 3,247.53) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barbara Hepworth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Family of Man: Ancestor II in November this year with an auction result of USD 11,565,000.00 (€ 10,602,310.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Barbara Hepworth erzielte im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints & MultiplesSummer Splash wurde die Arbeit Squares and Circles für USD 3.520,00 (€ 3.247,53) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barbara Hepworth erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Family of Man: Ancestor II im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.565.000,00 (€ 10.602.310,23).
